LOLITA, Vladimir Nabokov
Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins, My sin, my soul. Lo-lee ta: the tip of my tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to the tap, at three, to the teeth.

EL RETRATO DE DORIAN GRAY, Oscar Wilde
The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink-flowering thorn.

MIDDLESEX, Jeffrey Eugenides
I was born twice: first as a baby girl on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petroskey, Michigan, in August of 1974

Sentidas condolencias.» Pero no quiere decir nada. Quizá haya sido ayer.

MOBY DICK, Herman Melville
Call me Ishmael.

SCARAMOUCHE, Rafael Sabatini

Tolkien
When Mr. Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton.

ANA KARENINA, Lev Tolstoi

LEVIATHAN, Paul Auster
Six days ago, a man blew himself up by the side of a road in northern Wisconsin. There were no witnesses, but it appears that he was sitting on the grass next to his parked car when the bomb he was building accidentally went off.

Combien sont-ils? Trente mille? Cinquante mille? Moins? Plus?"
